Folksy Modern Pioneer Inspiration at Lucky Arrow Retreat

Junebug Weddings liked it enough to post it. So I thought I would finally share it here.

What Junebug posted on their blog was a beautiful rendition of the shoot that Nicole from Map + Compas wrote up. It is lovely and I am grateful for the publication. You can find that Moody Meets Folksy Hill Country Wedding Inspiration at Lucky Arrow Retreat here.

But I want to share a few of the details here… mostly for my own satisfaction for all the hard work that Nicole and I put in. 🤪

Personally, as a wedding planner, I have had some trouble with inspiration shoots (aka styled shoots) before this one. From time to time, some elements come out not exactly as I envision them and a lot of the time other vendors flake out at the last minute. So I went in with this a little half hardheartedly.

But after one phone call with Nicole, I knew I could go big with my design, and that she had great connections and ideas for the shoot and – even if no one else showed up – this we going to be a great inspiration shoot.

Finally, I would get on camera my ideas and designs with a photographer who was willing to put in the work to get published.

So without hesitation, I quickly pieced together a mood board with my ideas and a color scheme that included the Pantone color of 2019 (also my business color) and we submitted to the resort.

We then spent many, many texts and emails and phone calls, deciding just what vendor to choose and what modern pioneer details to add, Nicole and I poured over this inspiration shoot.

Our decision on each vendor mattered greatly on their Instagram presence and their website style. We gave a lot of creative leeway to the vendors but just asked for small details. Like with the invites we asked that Amanda make a map to go along with it. And that Jen make a flower ring for the hat and keep it a boho feel. And that Tim create a lattice apple pie and use cast-iron dishes for all the food.

We did handpick each rental item from Bee Lavish. I knew how I wanted the sweetheart table to look and they had a great vintage selection to choose from and did you see the lounge area. That old furniture dolly is actually a coffee table but Nicole set it on end and really gave it that pioneer feel in the lounge photo up top.

I am beyond grateful to each vendor, the hair and makeup, the dress, the video, silk, the jewelry, the banner, and all the food. Each and every one of them was amazing to work with. Below is a full line up of every vendor and their website.

May this small inspiration bring life to your own wedding in its own special way!
